چکیده

When patients combined thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) with lumbar degenerative disease, whose main clinical manifestations are distal lumbosacral pain (DLP), the therapeutic schedule should be made cautiously. We reported an 80-year-old female presented long-term accused of disc herniation. Percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) had been received because OVCF at L1 body. Twenty days ago, elderly felt DLP was aggravated no obvious reason. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed fresh L2 body, but palpation found absence focal tenderness. Then, we chose to perform PKP and patient substantial relief area after operation. This case that manifested as has a significant relieving effect on pain.

Percutaneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of very severe osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with spinal canal compromise

BACKGROUND Very severe osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (vsOVCFs) are osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with vertebral body collapse to less than one third of their original height. Few data are available about the use of percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in treating vsOVCFs with spinal canal compromise. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of percut...

Unilateral versus bilateral balloon kyphoplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.

BACKGROUND Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) commonly occur in aged people. Balloon kyphoplasty (KP) has been proven to be efficacious for pain relief and reduction of vertebral height for patients with osteoporotic VCFs. However, very little is known about the comparison of clinical and radiographic outcomes between unilateral and bilateral balloon KP in treating this kind of...

Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with an intravertebral cleft treated by percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty.

We investigated the safety and efficacy of treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with an intravertebral cleft by balloon kyphoplasty. Our study included 27 patients who were treated in this way. The mean follow-up was 38.2 months (24 to 54). The anterior and middle heights of the vertebral body and the kyphotic angle were measured on standing lateral radiographs before surgery, ...
